Welcome to the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet

The Public Protection Cabinet and its employees touch the lives of many Kentucky citizens. If your money is deposited into a state bank or other financial institution, if you have ever watched a horse race, purchased an insurance policy or played a bingo game sponsored by a local charitable group, you have benefited from our work. If you have ever appealed a property tax assessment or applied for a building permit, you have dealt with one of our agencies.

As diverse as our agencies are, we have one common goal: to provide outstanding customer service to every citizen and business that we serve.

Robert Vance, secretary
Public Protection Cabinet

The Division of Occupations and Professions, formerly a part of the Finance and Administration Cabinet, is also attached to the Public Protection Cabinet.

Report of the Governor's Task Force on the Future of Horse Racing

In December 2008, the Governor's Task Force on the Future of Horse Racing completed its examination of the economic soundness of the equine industry, integrity of horse racing, staffing and budget needs of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and the prospects of locating a world-class equine testing laboratory in Kentucky. Task force recommendations can be read in the final report.
